Photography: Willie Christie on the (No Pussyfooting) cover

The final piece in Tate Modern’s current Yayoi Kusama show – her dramatic Infinity Mirror Room – brought to my vinyl-fixated mind one of the greatest record sleeves of all time: the gatefold for (No Pussyfooting), the album released in 1973 by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp.

All of a piece with the music it packages – prismatic, playful, calm, cerebral, oblique – the four-part composition was photographed and designed at Eno’s behest by photographer/filmmaker Willie Christie....

Thomas Oberender, Curator and Artistic Director of the Berliner Festspiele speaks with English musician, composer, record producer, singer, artist and founding father of ambient music Brian Eno. The pair will explore topics including technology, future society, philosophy and architecture, among others. Brian Eno joins Thomas Oberender for this talk during a weeklong audio-visual presentation entitled ‘Empty Formalism’ for the ISM Hexadome, hosted at the Gropius Bau.

meanwhile....i was invited over to brian eno's house for lunch on sunday.

BRIAN ENO IS MY HERO. his album "taking tiger mountain" was one of my most played cassettes of 1991. (go listen to it, it stands up).

now i know that brian eno is also, in addition to being a great polymath writer producer artist weirdo, a really nice guy. he's just really....nice. and he cares a lot about the world.
